About Chinese Mainland

China has 17 provinces, and 5 outlander forces exist. They are comprised of small areas of lands (HEX). Furthermore, those lands are grouped together into Areas, and several Areas are grouped together in City Regions.

Provinces

China has 17 provinces. In addition, each of the provinces has a special effect called a "Geographic Advantage". In order to obtain the "Geographic Advantage" of each city, you must suppress a certain number of cities.

Geographic Advantage

City Region

Each City in China is the center of a City Region. Each City Region is made up of multiple Areas that are associated with the city. Every Area has a Core. Forces that capture this core will control the Area. Areas whose Cores are captured by a force controlling a neighboring city will be added to the City Region of the neighboring city.

Note: Cities, gates, and ports can be Cores.

Cities and Gates

Every force must control at least one city. Forces will be wiped out when they lose the last city they control. In addition, there are also "Gates". Cities and gates in general are referred as "Bases". Bases have Durability, and officers and troops can enter them. If suffering an enemy attack reduces a base's durability or number of troops to 0, then the base is taken over by the enemy force.

Outlander Forces

On the outskirts of the Chinese mainland, outlander forces exist. Outlander officers are extremely powerful, and will invade neighboring cities to take out those in their way. Gaining a special Geographic Advantage will allow you to befriend and trade with the outlanders, as well as recruit officers through events. You may also choose to engage outlanders in battle, suppress their forces, subordinate their officers, and take over their forces.

About Force

Officers that make up forces can be the rank of Ruler, Viceroy, Governor, and Normal. There are also officers that have a special rank called "Warlord".

Rulers

The Ruler is the leader of a force. If the Ruler dies, then another officer of the force succeeds them and becomes the new Ruler. If there is no officer who can become the next Ruler, then the force will be wiped out.

Viceroys

Viceroys are the cornerstones to each Division within a force. The Ruler acts as the Viceroy of Division 1. Other Divisions are governed independently according to the Delegation Policy, and can also manage multiple cities.

Governors

Officers that lead City Regions. The Governor is appointed automatically, from the officers that belong to a city, according to their abilities and directions. If the Ruler or Viceroy is in the base, they take precedence in appointment as Governor. The abilities of a base's Governor affect how difficult it is to conquer the base.

Warlords

A Warlord is an officer who advises the Ruler in various matters. A Warlord can be appointed by going to Force Commands and selecting [Appointments] → Administration. You can appoint any officer with Intelligence of at least 70 as a Warlord.

Other Officers

Free Officers

Officers that do not belong to a force. You can identify them by going to force command [People] and selecting Search.

Bandits

Bandits may appear in areas where public order is low. A force can lose control over its territory when bandits move into it. The types of bandits will vary depending on the area. There are also certain officer character traits that can deter the appearance of bandits.

Note: Unlike officers, bandits cannot be employed.
