Victory Conditions
If you concentrate your attacks on the enemy and put them in a Break state, you create a big opportunity to take the upperhand. Also, make full use of Elements and Style to gain every advantage.
Break
Attacking an enemy will reduce their Break Gauge.
Depleting this will cause the enemy into a Break state. For a certain period of time, the enemy will be unable to move and the damage they take will increase.
Link Attack, Unison Raid
After depleting 1 Break Gauge, you can perform a Link Attack. When all the Break Gauges of a strong enemy have been depleted, a Unison Raid will be performed, dealing heavy damage to the enemy.
Risk Gauge
When an enemy is preparing a powerful attack, a Risk Gauge (Yellow Rhombus) will be displayed.
When the Timer (Purple Circle) is completely full, you can use a powerful attack.
By attacking with Skills whose Styles have an advantage, you can reduce the Risk Gauge. If you reduce it completely before the Timer fills up, you can stop the enemy's attack (Risk Break). Additionally, you can activate a Link Attack.

Sub-Menu
When the Action Gauge is full, you can open the Sub-Menu.
In the Sub-Menu, you can use Items or escape from Battle.
However, you cannot escape from some battles, such as boss fights.

Swap Character
You can swap the Main Character for a Standby Character.
A Character who has been knocked out cannot be swapped in.

Status Ailments
Special conditions that occur in allies and enemies because of a Skill are called Status Ailments.
Status Ailments will heal over time but can be cured quickly by using Skills or Items.
Status Ailments can be checked on the Pause Screen during Battle.
Poison | Reduces HP over time. |
---|---|
Paralysis | The time until you can next act will increase. |
Burn | Every time an attack is made, damage is taken. |
Freeze | Unable to perform actions like attacking or guarding. |
Fear | Unable to guard. |
Curse | Prevents HP recovery. |
In some boss fights, you may also be inflicted with special Status Ailments other than those listed above.
Element
There are 11 different Elements. Damage dealt to a Character receiving an attack will increase or decrease according to their Elemental Affinity.
The Elemental type for each Skill and Elemental Affinity for each Character can be checked on the Pause Screen during Battle.

The "Crush" element is super-effective against all other elements and deals severe damage.
Style
Skills come in 3 different Styles.
By using Skills with Styles that are advantageous against the enemy's actions, you can reduce their Risk Gauge.
When the Risk Gauge is displayed, Skills that are advantageous against the enemy's Style will be highlighted yellow. Select an advantageous Skill to aim for a Risk Break.
Physical Skills are strong against Energy Skills,
Energy Skills are strong against Weapons Skills,
Weapons Skills are strong against Physical Skills.
